PMI Philippines Chapter Visayas/Mindanao Region Celebrates Year-end 2018

Tech Session and Fellowship Dinner Caps Another Successful Year!

PMI Philippines Chapter Vis/Min Region closed 2018 with a celebration of fun and fellowship catered to chapter members from the Vis/Min region.  Guests were treated with a holiday feast with lechon, a live band, and an open mic session which showcased the singing talents of members.  Before this however, the final Tech Session for the year was held and attended by a record number of guests!

Tech Session 2018-3

Held once again at Harold’s Hotel on Saturday, November 10th, the audience was treated to a tag team presentation by two senior consultants from Next Level Consulting.  Together, they shared many years of on-the-job project management knowledge and disciplines.  Part 1 was presented by Thomas Martin who spoke on Project Portfolio Management.  Part 2 was presented by Walter Sedlacek who spoke on Agile Leadership.  The Tech Session was attended by a record number of attendees from across all industries.

PMI Philippines Chapter was able to gain widespread exposure due to the majority of the attendees who were non-chapter members.  Valuable discussions between the presenters and the audience addressed many topics relevant to the challenges faced by today’s project managers …. too many ideas not enough time, constantly changing priorities, lack of resources, and unclarity about the status of Projects.  As with earlier Tech Sessions, the attendees were treated with a delicious afternoon snack buffet and ample networking opportunities with other practitioners.

Fellowship Dinner

In unison with the same event in Manila held the previous week, the Visayas/Mindanao region held its Fellowship Dinner in Cebu on Sunday, December 9th at the Dohera Hotel.  Attended by special invitation for all chapter members in the Visayas/Mindanao region, the dinner brought together fellow project managers for fun, networking, a live band, and of course, a great dinner buffet with lechon!  The evening was capped with an open mic session and as the evening progressed, there was no holding back as everyone joined in for their favorite song!.

PMI Philippines Chapter, Associate Director, Joe Rey noted “unlike other chapter events, there was no business agenda to our Fellowship Dinner.  Our focus is strictly fun and relaxation for our members and to thank them for their support the past year.”  Rey added, “this dinner also allowed those members who could not attend previous events to meet and network with their peers and fellow practitioners.”  While attendance was low due to family and office events during the holidays, scheduling the dinner earlier in the holiday season will be targeted in the future.
