PMI Philippines Chapter completed its first two Tech Sessions in the Visayas/Mindanao (Vis/Min) Region further reinforcing the chapter’s strong presence in the Central Visayas! Members were treated to a full afternoon of networking, afternoon snacks, and dynamic speakers who discussed a wide range of project management disciplines. Tech Sessions are just one event brought to you by PMI Philippines Chapter in providing membership value to project management practitioners who may otherwise not make it to the Manila PMI events. Tech Session 2018-1
Held at the Cebu Grande Hotel on Saturday, June 2, 2018, members were treated to project management disciplines dealing with change management and a unique type of leadership trait. Abegail Tongco, Business Development Director & Secretary, 80/20 Resource Solutions & Consultancy, Inc., spoke on organizational change management where changes in employee mindset and behavior will make or break the much larger change process occurring in companies. Sustainability is key to success!


The next speaker was Michael Godinez, President of People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) and AVP Human Resources, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI). He spoke on the Disruptive Leadership style that has taken over the mindset of todays business setting and how this type of leadership trait make for an effective leadership approach. Disruption destroys or change the market by creating a better alternative to today’s products and services and in some cases, an entire industry.






Tech Session 2018-2
The second Tech Session of the year was held at Harolds Hotel on Saturday, September 15, 2018 and featured two dynamic speakers focused on the technical aspects of project management. Attendees gained knowledge on Systems Thinking and Value and Benefits Realization Management. Attendees also dined on a buffet of snacks while networking with fellow project management practitioners. It was a great afternoon had by all despite the threat of inclement weather brought on by Typhoon Ompong (international name Mangkhut).


Speaker Amando “Arjay” Radomes, Jr., Deputy Project Director, Metro Retail Stores Group, Inc., spoke on System Thinkings and provided an in-depth review of two system modeling techniques aimed at managing the quantity and quality of information which help decision makers enhance their mental models and consequently, improve the quality of their decisions. Arjay was followed by speaker, Pablo Yambot, Managing Director, UBQTY, and spoke to the attendees on how business results can be improved by adequately measuring the value and benefits realization of projects. Case studies were presented which provided validation on the importance of this project management discipline.
