PMI Philippines Chapter holds its first technical session for 2009.

Held in the evening of April 22, 2009 at the Discovery Suites, the technical session, entitled "Integrating Knowledge Management in the Project Life Cycle", had Dr. Serafin D. Talisayon as the guest speaker.

Dr. Talisayon is known as the “Father of KM in the Philippines,” after starting the first KM course at the University of the Philippines, co-founding CCLFI and spearheading the establishment of the KM Association of the Philippines of which he is currently the Chair.

Dr. Talisayon opened his presentation with an interesting example of an organization that uses Knowledge Management - the US Army.  He detailed the Army's use of CALL - Center for Army Lessons Learned - to gather best practices learned from actual combat experience and share to other commanders to improve battlefield performance.  Dr. Talisayon then defines Knowledge, and contrasts this with Information.  He talks about the Knowledge Management Framework, and then goes into using Knowledge Management tools in Projects.
