PMI Philippines Chapter Returns to the Visayas/Mindanao Region

Launch of Expanded Technical Session is Only the Beginning

With the earlier announcement of PMI Philippines Chapter's renewed commitment to the Visayas/Mindanao region and its membership base, the Chapter convened its Technical Session in Cebu on Oct 22 at Harolds Hotel.  Attended by PMI Philippines Chapter Board Members, three dynamic speakers, and a record setting attendance of project management practitioners, the 4-hour long event provided a glimpse of what PMI Philippines Chapter had to offer towards providing value to members by delivering globally recognized professional development courses, networking opportunities, and Technical Sessions.

Technical Session Attendees
Speakers and those from PMI Philippines Chapter included (L to R): Joe Rey, PMI Philippines Chapter Associate Director Vis/Min; Casila Ganihong, PMI Philippines Chapter Vice President; Andrew Harrison, Chief Executive Director, GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation; Dr. Ricky Dakay, President & Manager, Dakay Construction; Megan Genat, Architect & Project Manager, International Organization for Migration; Kristy Anne Abello, Senior IT Manager, Proctor & Gamble; and Patrick Ferrer, PMI Philippines Chapter Trustee.
In addressing the audience, Joe Rey, Host and PMI Philippines Chapter Associate Director - Vis/Min Region said, "Each of you are part of this historic event and your presence will go far in support of growing the Vis/Min region."  In attendance were two of PMI Philippines Chapter's Board of Trustees, Casila Ganihong, Vice President and Patrick Ferrer, Board Trustee.  Ferrer also addressed the audience and added, "Here in Cebu you have much to be proud of because in 2010, we had just two members, today in the Vis/Min region, we now have 30 members and growing!"  The two pioneer members, Dino Faustino and Romy Buendia, were present and recognized for their contributions to PMI Philippines Chapter. They continue to serve PMI Philippines Chapter today on the newly created Advisory Team for the Vis/Min region.  Ferrer continued, "The vision we have for Cebu is to form it into an established branch of the PMI Philippines Chapter. This only happens when a critical mass of membership is attained due to a consistent engagement and development of the project management profession in the Vis/Min region.  Thus, my challenge to the members today is to land the first branch of the Philippines Chapter in Cebu!"
The successful planning and execution of the Tech Session would not have been possible without the outstanding effort and support of the PMI Philippines Chapter Vis/Min Advisory Team (pictured at right).

The all volunteer team met several times leading up to the Tech Session, during the week and after work, to discuss and plan.  They provide valuable input in plotting the strategic direction of PMI Philippines Chapter in the Vis/Min region.
